Carling , home of the Carlingswitch brand, has introduced many switch products that have become industry standards.
The Tippette Series of full-size rocker and paddle switches,
The Curvette Series of mid-sized snap-in rocker and paddle switches - which introduced the attractive & functional double injection molded, two-color curved VisiRocker actuators - and the Contura family and L-Series family of sealed rocker switches are all examples of innovative products that have led the marketplace.
To complement the power switch line, Carling undertook the internal development of a hydraulic magnetic circuit breaker line in 1978. The objective was not only to duplicate the range of product then available in the marketplace, but also to improve upon those existing offerings in the areas of performance, design complexity and cost. That objective has been met by our full range of hydraulic magnetic circuit breakers that consistently out-perform the competition.
Carling has gone even further in circuit breaker design by offering higher current ratings in smaller sizes with the M-Series, a miniature 25-amp hydraulic/magnetic circuit breaker with the Visi-Rocker and optional Rockerguard, and by introducing the C-Series UL489 listed hydraulic/magnetic circuit breakers.
In 1997 Carling introduced the SmartGuard Equipment Leakage Circuit Breaker. The SmartGuard is an equipment ground fault protection device that functions as a standard high quality hydraulic magnetic circuit breaker offering customized overload and short circuit protection, while also detecting and guarding against faults to ground using a state of the art integrated circuit developed by Carling Technologies. When a fault occurs, this breaker trips and an LED illuminates giving a clear indication that the trip occurred as a result of leakage.
Continuing it's heritage of innovative design, in 1998 Carling expanded its product breadth for the Telecommunications Industry, by introducing custom designed Power Distribution Centers or PDCs. The PDC line has now evolved into a full-line of custom and standard product offerings.Power Distribution Centers are standard or custom power distribution panels or enclosures that are factory wired and contain overcurrent and short circuit protection devices. They may also contain auxiliary devices such as surge suppressors, ground fault circuit interrupters, power receptacles, etc. A PDC is usually supplied by the main feeder and then divides the power into smaller branch circuits. It provides the required circuit control and overcurrent protection needed to all the circuits and power consuming loads connected to it.
Coinciding with the new millennium and our eightieth anniversary, we changed our corporate name from Carlingswitch to Carling Technologies in order to recognize the broadening of our product offerings and the greatly increased complexity of these products. In this new millennium Carling has continued to aggressively develop several more exciting new product lines.
In 2000, we introduced the Remote Operated circuit breaker (ROCB) With the ROCB, the convenience of remote ON, OFF and Reset capability has been combined with the safety and accuracy of a standard magnetic current sensing device, allowing operation of the circuit breaker from various locations in a system, facility or site (while not sacrificing the ability to manually operate the breaker if required).
Also in 2000, we introduced the 651/652-Series of shallow base mini-switches, Carling's most compact miniature line of switches.
In 2001 we expanded our circuit protection offerings with the high current F-Series 100-700 amp hydraulic magnetic circuit breakers, and compact CMB & CLB-Series of push button thermal circuit breakers.
We also continued to expand the styles and available options on our Contura & L-Series family of switches.
In 2002 Carling introduced the ECS III - digital switching system that leads the way in digital multiplex technology, creating a safer and fully configurable control system for the marine environment.
